    Bomb Blast Hits Potiskum School, Many Students Feared Dead

    A fresh bomb blast has occurred in Potiskum in Yobe State, this morning killing many students and leaving several others injured. The bomb went off when students of the Comprehensive Secondary School gathered for the morning assembly. It was said that the suicide bomber disguised as a student detonated the explosive at the school’s assembly ground.
    Nigerian police said 47 people were killed while 79 others were injured in the bomb attack on Government Senior Science Secondary School, Potiskum in Yobe State.
    Police bomb experts are already at the crime scene while the victims have been taken to hospital, officials said.
    The Government Science Secondary School, Potiskum is one of the densely populated boarding schools for boys, located very close to the Potiskum General Hospital in the heart of town.

    Potiskum is the largest town outside Damaturu, the Yobe state capital.
    Recently, a similar suicide bombing was targeted at members of the Shiite group, Islamic Brotherhood of Nigeria, also in Potiskum which killed more than 20 members of the Shiite sect in the mid-day suicide attack when Muslim Shiite sect members celebrating the Ashurah Day in Potiskum, Yobe State.

    The suicide attack took place at Tsohon Kasuwa, a densely populated area in the commercial city. It is 100km south of Damaturu, the state capital.
    But the police put the figure of the dead at four, including the bomber. They said five people were injured.

    The leader of the Shiite group, Mallam Mustapha Lawan Nasidi, said 29 members of the group were killed; over 80 injured.
    Although, the town had witnessed several bomb and gun attacks from members of the Boko Haram sect in the past, it has of recent enjoyed relative peace.
