    TATOO RIGHT OR WRONG

In ancient pagan religions, tattooing was often thought to protect the individual so marked from harmful magic. Some tattoos also indicated that a person belonged to a certain god or cult (analagous to the fact that slaves were often branded or tattooed).
Throughout history, primitive human tribes have used decorative body art to represent inner qualities like tribal status, personal achievements, and personality traits. Certain colors might represent success in love or war, while varied animal images could suggest a desirable character trait.
In today's fashion world, tattoos are worn by the rich and famous as well as the poor and obscure. Perhaps the trait shared by all is the desire to enhance self-image through the use of colorful skin designs.

What are common risks associated with getting a tattoo? Are all tattoos permanent? What if you get tired of the design and wish to get rid of it?
Tattoo artists use a hollow needle to inject colored dye below the skin's surface. Tiny dots of color are inserted along a pre-selected design. When finished, a colorful pattern emerges to illustrate a verbal phrase, an object, or a picture. Tattoos can be placed on just about any part of the body, some for public display and others for private screening. Sizes range from a tiny heart about the size of a nickel to designs that surge the length of a torso or limb. Many people who get one tattoo return for more later.
The primary concern with getting a tattoo is the possible health risks. If the needle has been used by others infected with certain blood-borne diseases, you may become exposed to the same bacteria and develop conditions like hepatis or HIV. Another possible concern is blood poisoning or a skin infection if the needle happens to become contaminated by airborne or localized germs. Be certain that the tattoo artist's hands and equipment are sterile, and that the proper technique is used for implanting the tattoo on your body.
A skin tattoo is designed to last. However, it may need a touch-up within a year or so to brighten the colors, which will fade over time. If you are not sure whether to get a permanent tattoo, you can try a temporary one that will wash off in a few days. If, after getting a permanent tattoo, you wish to have it removed, you will need to visit the tattoo specialist and have the dye removed from your skin. This can be a difficult and painful process, as well as costing more money.
Costs vary with the procedure, so find out in advance what the fees should be according to the person you plan to visit, along with any guarantees if the image fades before it should. You might try talking to customers who have visited the tattoo salon previously to find out if they are satisfied with their tattoos, and whether they recommend this artist.
Getting a tattoo may impact your personal or professional life. For example, some employers do not want their workers to exhibit tattoos when clients are around. You may have to cover up your tattoo or stay away from clients at the workplace.
Weigh the risks and benefits to having this procedure done before making a decision that is likely to be permanent.

"Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God -- this is your spiritual act of worship. Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is -- his good, pleasing and perfect will." ~Romans 12:1-2 (NIV)
"Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own, you were bought at a price. Therefore, honor God with your body." 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 (NIV)
