The Chairman of Zinox Group, Mr Leo Stan Ekeh, on Wednesday said that he would ensure the domestication of technology in Nigeria and Africa. He gave the assurance on his appointment as the `Global Partner Advisor’ by Microsoft, a software company, for two years.
In a statement in Lagos, Ekeh commended the company for the appointment which identified with his vision to move Africa from the analogue to digital platform.
Ekeh is the only African among Microsoft Advisors.
He was appointed based on his pioneering and pivotal role in ICT development in Africa and his leadership and ability to define market trends.
According to him, the Global Advisor platform will be used to advance the objectives of the `Digital Knowledge Democracy’ and create technology value for Africans.
“Part of my responsibility would be to advice Microsoft on how best to domesticate technology and catalyse development in Africa.

“I will work closely with ICT institutions, professionals, governments, and the trade unions to ensure that my contributions to the company are truly representative,’’ he said.
Mr Chris Uwaje, the President of the Institute of Software Professionals of Nigeria (ISPON), described the appointment of Ekeh as a welcome development.
The statement quoted Uwaje as saying that the appointment of an African was a reflection of the growing importance of the African IT market.

He said that Ekeh had the experience, exposure and goodwill as pioneer of many strategic ICT platforms to make Africa proud in this endeavour.
Uwaje said that the appointment meant more than business for Africans because it would also be a source of inspiration for the development of IT capacities among professionals.
