Microsoft's Disc-Less Xbox to be Called Xbox One S All-Digital Edition, Launch Soon

We've been hearing about Microsoft's upcoming digital-only variant of the Xbox One for some time, and it looks like the new hardware might be launching fairly soon. According to a report from Windows Central, the disc-less version of the Xbox One S will be available for pre-order sometime in April, and general availability is expected in early May.

Additionally, it looks like Microsoft will be referring to the new hardware as the Xbox One S All-Digital Edition, a fitting name given that the console will only be able to run games bought from the Microsoft Store. As expected, the name indicates that the hardware will be based on the Xbox One S, and not the more powerful Xbox One X.

One important detail that's still not known is how much internal storage the unit will have. Considering every game will have to be downloaded and installed on the drive, it would make sense for it to be bigger than the current variants of the console, but only time will tell.
If you're already looking to the future of Xbox, the next generation of consoles is said to be coming towards the end of 2020. With any luck, we might hear a little more about it at E3 this year, though that might be too early for a launch next year.
