The LG G9 ThinQ  might lose more than just its flagship status. If a fairly recent report from Korea is to be believed, LG might be giving up completely on its G series.

At CES 2020, the head of LG promised that the company will arrange a revolution in the smartphone market, and in 2021 a mobilethe unit will finally become profitable. It looks like LG already has a strategy to help with this.
According to a report, this LG movement aims to innovate in its brand and design. It comes a year after Yeon-Mo Lee became vice president of LG Electronics. The company is also reportedly working on a new "chocolate cell phone." LG's original chocolate phone, the VX8500.

According to South Korean publication Naver, a telecommunications industry official said the company will abandon the G brand and introduce a new brand. It is unclear what the new brand will look like. He also stated that the company will launch its first smartphone for 2020, which could be the LG G9 ThinQ, in the first half.

The report goes on to say that officials who attended the company's product briefing said that LG's upcoming smartphone reminded them of the chocolate phone that launched 15 years ago. The original chocolate phone was a slider with a keyboard which came out in 2006.

Recently, the upcoming LG G9 or LG G9 ThinQ was leaked in a box render,  LG G9 ThinQ was designed to come with a Snapdragon 765G SoC and a 4,000 mAh battery. The new chipset is expected to have superior performance at an affordable price. It also supports 5G. The South Korean post lays out some of the expected specs for the LG G9 ThinQ, such as a screen size between 6.7 inches and 6.9 inches and a quad rear camera setup. The main camera is expected to be a 48 megapixel camera.

LG's G  series started with the LG Optimus G in 2012 and has had a constant smartphone launch until last year. Not only smartphones, LG also uses the G for smart watches and tablets, but it is unclear whether the decision to remove G has only been taken for smartphones or for other products.
