Nigeria sees increase in the number of new COVID-19 cases, but the number of death declines Tuesday,
Nigeria Centre For Disease Control (NCDC) on June 8,
announced 102 new Coronavirus infections with no additional COVID-19 related
death in 9 states.
Meanwhile, 69 COVID-19 patients who have recovered from the
disease have been discharged from isolation centres across the country. Health
officials in the country also confirmed zero more people have died after
testing positive for COVID-19.
The new COVID-19 infections reported by the nation push its
pandemic cases tally to 166,918.
Since the virus was first detected, it has claimed 2,117 lives
in Nigeria, and more than 163,259 people have recovered in the country after
falling ill.
The report, citing NCDC, said that 68 out of the new
infections were reported in Ondo, 17 in Bayelsa, 5 in Kaduna, 3 cases each in Lagos
and Rivers state.
While Akwa Ibom and Gombe reported 2 cases each, Ebonyi and
Oyo had 1 case each.
As of Tuesday, Nigeria has 1,542 active cases of COVID-19, up
from the previous day when it was at 1,509.
