    Nigeria Reports 167 New COVID-19 Cases Monday

    Nigeria on Monday reported a daily spike of 167 new COVID-19 cases and no death linked to the virus for the third consecutive days, the health ministry’s release stated.

    With the new reports, the death toll remained 2,980. The country's total tally of cases has now climbed to 214,789, according to Nigeria Centre for Disease Control NCDC via its official website on Monday.

    The active cases have risen to 4,331 from 4,192.

    An increase of 139 cases has been recorded in the active COVID-19 caseload in a span of 24 hours.

    Meanwhile, the national COVID-19 recovery rate was recorded at 96.6 per cent of the known cases.

    The number of people who have recuperated from the disease surged to 207,478 after 28 patients recovered and were discharged from hospitals across the nation on Monday. Which includes 10 discharged cases reported in Kaduna state on 5th December 2021, NCDC said.

    Nigeria on Monday completed 3,629,527 million tests to detect coronavirus disease (COVID-19). The first COVID-19 test was conducted on February 27, 2020.

    According to the breakdown of the newly recorded infections, Lagos account for the highest  figure, recorded 113 cases. Followed by FCT with 22 cases and Plateau with 16 cases.

    Kano reported 4 cases, Abia, Kaduna and Rivers reported 3 cases each, Bauchi had 2 cases and Delta with 1 case.

    Sokoto is the only state with no cases of COVID-19 reported on Monday, health officials said.

    However, NCDC noted that today’s report includes 3 confirmed cases reported in Kaduna state are for 5th December 2021.

    Also, Three confirmed cases reported in Abia state are for 5th December 2021.

    And one confirmed case reported in Delta state on 5th December 2021.
