Germany‘s Umut Gültekin Joins an Elite List of FIFAe World Champions; $250,000 grand prize claimed for winning the first FIFAe Finals event; the first of three trophies handed out this month at the Bella Arena in Copenhagen.
The FIFAe World Cup 2022™ presented by EA SPORTS™ has come
to an exciting end as Germany‘s Umut Gültekin has been crowned FIFAe World
Champion 2022 after fierce competition throughout.
The 19-year-old German dominated proceedings from the start
of the group stage to the end of the competition to become the FIFAe World
Champion, never conceding more than one goal in each draw throughout the
knockout stage. He follows Mohammed ‘MoAuba’ Harkous as the second consecutive
German world champion.
The best EA SPORTS™ FIFA 22 individual player in the world
claimed the $250,000 grand prize and joined an elite group of world champions.
This brings to an end the first spectacular event of FIFAe Finals 2022, but
there is still much to experience in the FIFAe universe over the next two weeks
of competition.
“Congratulations to Umut on winning the FIFA World Cupe and
ultimately making his game famous on the biggest stage,” said Nick Brown, FIFA
Director of Commercial Partnerships. “His dedication throughout the season
allowed him to make his dream come true and writing his name in the history
books of the FIFAe universe will surely be a memory he will never forget.”
“It’s crazy, I dreamed so much about this moment and I can’t
believe it”, said the new World Champion Umut. “We have the strongest nation
[in FIFAe]. Next year, one of us will win. [again].”
Both legs of the final were tense and goalless – the tie had
to be decided on penalties – and it was Umut ‘Umut’ Gültekin who prevailed to
become the FIFAe World Champion and lift the famous trophy in Copenhagen lifted
by previous champions such as Mohammed . ‘MoAuba’ Harkous and Mosaad
‘Msdossary’ Aldossary.
The conclusion of the FIFAe World Cup 2022 brings the end of
the first week of FIFAe Finals 2022, the ultimate venue for the local and
global FIFAe community. The three main events: FIFAe World Cup™ presented by EA
SPORTS, FIFAe Club World Cup™ presented by EA SPORTS and FIFAe Nations Cup™
presented by EA SPORTS, will be played over three consecutive weeks.
The high-level action is just beginning: Dive back into the
FIFAe universe next week when the FIFAe Club World Cup 2022 kicks off to crown
the best organization in FIFA esports, taking place from 20-23 June. July. Up
to three players per club will compete on the biggest stage to represent their
badge, all for glory and a chance to hold the new trophy for the first time.
