SA’s Swimming Champion’s Triumphant return to the Olympics to claim her gold medal.

Swimming champion Tatjana Smith from South Africa secured the gold medal in the women's 100-meter event at the 2024 Paris Olympics held at the Paris La Defense Arena. This remarkable achievement marks a significant milestone in her illustrious career. Smith's time of 1:05.28 placed her ahead of China's Qianting Tang, who finished second, and Mona McSharry from Ireland, who came in third.

Smith emerged as the strong favorite for the gold medal after her impressive victories in both her heat and semi-final races in the 100-meter event at the Paris La Defense Arena on Sunday. Notably, she demonstrated exceptional speed by touching the wall first in both races with a time of 1:05.00, surpassing her previous time in Tokyo, where she won the silver medal with a time of 1:05.22.

The SA swimming superstar also won gold in Tokyo 2021 where she set the current Olympic record for the 200m breaststroke event at a time of 2:18.95.

Smith is also part of the Corona Cero South Africa Athletes group, which includes swimming legend Chad Le Clos, track stars Wayde van Niekerk and Akani Simbine and surfers Sarah Baum, and Matthew Macgillivray. This group, supported by SAB's Corona Cero through their association with SASCOC, embodies the pursuit of “Golden Moments” in South African sports.

As an official partner to the Olympic & Paralympic games, Corona Cero's "For Every Golden Moment" campaign draws parallels between Olympic triumphs and the power of meaningful, everyday experiences. From an athlete’s podium finish to taking in a beautiful sunset, the campaign celebrates and reminds everyone of the power of life’s golden moments.

The 2024 Paris Olympics runs until August 11.
