FPL Media has officially declared its strategic alliance with the Outdoor Advertising Association of Nigeria (OAAN) in preparation for the association's eagerly awaited Annual General Meeting (AGM). This significant event is set to occur on Friday, August 16, 2024, at De Signature Towers located in Ibadan, Oyo State.

The collaboration between FPL Media and OAAN is designed to highlight some of the most exceptional initiatives, innovations, products, and services that FPL Media provides to the advertising sector. This partnership reflects FPL Media’s dedication to fostering the growth and advancement of the Outdoor Advertising industry in Nigeria.

In discussing the partnership, Lanre Ashaolu, Managing Director of FPL Media, underscored the importance of the event for both FPL Media and the industry at large. “As a corporate member of OAAN, FPL Media has reaped the benefits of the association’s engagements with external stakeholders. We view this event as a chance to give back and support the progress of the industry,” Ashaolu remarked.

He further stressed the necessity of promoting the craft and activities of the Out-of-Home (OOH) sector to the appropriate audience. “Our mission is to connect brands with audiences through the innovative and strategic placement of advertising content nationwide. It is vital to enhance awareness regarding the vibrancy, science, and methodology inherent in our operations to ensure that brands appreciate the significance of OOH advertising,” he continued.

Ashaolu also pointed out the dynamic characteristics of the OOH industry, noting that innovative strategies are being implemented daily, especially in non-traditional advertising methods. He emphasized the industry's need to challenge the conventional belief that other communication channels hold greater relevance during campaign planning and resource distribution. “Nigerians spend two-thirds of their day outdoors, and it is crucial to acknowledge that traditional media feeds into digital,” he concluded.

The upcoming OAAN Annual General Meeting, titled "Navigating the Challenges of Outdoor Advertising in Nigeria," will feature Lolu Akinwunmi, the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Prima Garnet Africa, as the keynote speaker. Akinwunmi, a seasoned professional in the field, is anticipated to share invaluable insights that will assist members in re-evaluating their focus and strategies to foster growth, thereby ensuring their continued relevance and competitiveness.

Sola Akinsiku, the President of OAAN, underscored the significance of the AGM, noting that the association is committed to regularly assessing the Out-of-Home media landscape to uphold its relevance, align on shared objectives, and cultivate respect among stakeholders. He also pointed out OAAN’s substantial contributions to economic development, which include the creation of both direct and indirect employment opportunities.

The OAAN AGM is expected to convene prominent figures in the advertising sector, providing a venue for networking, exchanging knowledge, and highlighting the latest trends and innovations in Out-of-Home advertising.
