In reference to the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC), Coca-Cola Nigeria Limited (Coca-Cola) affirms that its packaging adheres to all pertinent regulatory standards. Coca-Cola maintains that its packaging offers transparent information and complies with national regulatory requirements.

In response to a caution issued by the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) regarding the use of deceptive trade descriptions, the organization issued a statement.

On August 1, the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) alleged that Coca-Cola and the Nigerian Bottling Company (NBC) engaged in unfair marketing practices that misled consumers.

The commission asserted that Coca-Cola and NBC deceived the public by presenting their “Original Taste, Less Sugar” variant as identical in formulation to their “Original Taste” variant.

The FCCPC requested that the companies guarantee adequate and appropriate packaging, labeling, and differentiation between Coke Original Taste and Coke Original Taste Less Sugar, subject to the commission’s approval and satisfaction.

The commission observed that the companies will be under supervision for a duration of 24 months.

In a statement issued on August 2, Coca-Cola reiterated its unwavering dedication to safeguarding the interests of its valued consumers.

“Coca-Cola Nigeria provides clear, accessible nutrition information on our packaging in line with national regulatory requirements and is committed to transparency for consumers,” the statement reads.

“Our priority is safeguarding consumer interests and we will continue to work constructively with the government on this matter.”

As per the official statement, the Coca-Cola system in Nigeria has adhered to all applicable regulations and eagerly anticipates the chance to resolve the matter definitively.
