Nigerian music icon Wizkid has achieved a remarkable milestone by establishing a new record for the longest interval between No. 1 songs on the TurnTable Top 100, Nigeria's leading music chart.
Asake's track 'MMS,' featuring Wizkid from his recently
launched third album 'Lungu Boy,' has ascended to the No. 1 position, marking
Wizkid's second chart-topping hit.
The song 'MMS' signifies a gap of 3 years, 9 months, and 12
days since Wizkid last topped the charts with 'Ginger,' featuring Burna Boy.
This accomplishment sets a new record, surpassing the previous duration of 1
year, 10 months, and 16 days held by Omah Lay.
This achievement underscores Wizkid's enduring presence in
the Nigerian music scene, where he has remained a dominant figure for over a
decade.
The Grammy-winning artist is poised to release his highly
awaited sixth album, 'Morayo,' named in honor of his late mother. In
anticipation of the album, Wizkid unveiled the second part of his 'Soundman' EP
in December 2023.
