Bobrisky has filed a lawsuit against VeryDarkMan for N1 billion, claiming that the voice recording in question was generated by artificial intelligence, according to the EFCC.

Nigerian social media figure and cross-dresser, Idris Okuneye, widely known as Bobrisky, has initiated legal proceedings against internet activist and influencer VeryDarkMan, seeking damages amounting to N1 billion.

This legal dispute arises from VeryDarkMan's dissemination of a voice recording, which he claims features Bobrisky admitting to bribing officials of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) with N15 million to have money laundering charges against him dismissed.

Bobrisky has refuted these allegations, asserting that the voice recordings allegedly linking him to any illegal activities were fabricated using artificial intelligence technology.

In a post on her social media, Bobrisky shared a letter from her legal representatives, announcing the lawsuit against VeryDarkMan for N1 billion in damages and demanding a written and video apology within 24 hours.

Additionally, the House of Representatives has commenced an investigation into bribery allegations involving the EFCC and the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCS).

These allegations, brought forth by VeryDarkMan, suggest that the EFCC dropped money laundering charges against Idris Okuneye after receiving a bribe of N15 million.

Rep Patrick Umoh, who represents the Ikot Ekpene/Essien Udim/Obot Akara Federal Constituency in Akwa Ibom State, introduced the motion during Thursday’s plenary session, highlighting the serious nature of the allegations.

He underscored the detrimental impact these claims have on Nigeria's reputation as a corrupt nation and stressed the necessity for immediate action. In his address to fellow lawmakers, Umoh voiced his concerns regarding the widely circulated accusations made by VeryDarkMan against both the EFCC and the NCS.

He said, “The publication alleges that the EFCC dropped money laundering charges against Idris Okuneye, also known as Bobrisky upon collection of the sum of N15,000, 000.

“The publication alleges that Idris Okuneye, upon conviction for abuse and defacing of the Naira, by the court, did not serve his time at the Nigeria Correctional Service, but was lodged outside the confines of the service.

“We are disturbed about the damning allegations against Nigerian critical law enforcement agencies-the EFCC and the NCS established by this hallowed chambers to fight correction and incarcerate persons convicted of a crime for correctional purposes respectively.”

He further emphasized that the negative depiction of Nigeria as a corrupt nation in the publication should not be ignored. Speaker Tajudeen Abbas, who led the plenary session, referred the matter to the Committees on Financial Crimes and Reformatory Institutions.
