A British Airways flight en route to Budapest was compelled to return to Heathrow Airport shortly after takeoff due to a potential technical problem.
The BA866 flight took off at 8 am on Wednesday but turned back over Kent before making its way back to Heathrow.
According to FlightRadar24, the aircraft landed back at the airport at approximately 9 am. Multiple flight tracking websites reported that the flight had declared an emergency.
A representative from British Airways informed the Standard that the flight had safely returned to Heathrow.
They stated: “Our aircraft returned to London Heathrow as a precaution due to a suspected minor technical issue.
“We apologize to our customers for the disruption to their travel plans, and our teams are working diligently to assist them in continuing their journeys as swiftly as possible.”
