Veteran American Country Music Artist and actor Kris Kristofferson has died at the age of 88.

His family released a statement on Sunday confirming his passing, but they did not provide details regarding the cause of death.

“It is with a heavy heart that we share the news our husband, father, and grandfather, Kris Kristofferson, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 28, at home,” the statement reads.

“We are all so blessed for our time with him. Thank you for loving him all these many years, and when you see a rainbow, know he’s smiling down at us all.”

Since the announcement of Kristofferson's passing, tributes have emerged from various sectors of the entertainment industry.

Barbra Streisand, who starred alongside him in ‘A Star Is Born’, shared on Instagram that Kristofferson was “as charming as ever” during their performance together in London’s Hyde Park in 2019.

I will always love you.” Born on June 22, 1936, Kristofferson became a prominent figure in country music through his songwriting, with notable hits such as ‘For the Good Times’, ‘Sunday Morning Coming Down’, and ‘Help Me Make It Through the Night’.

His initial four albums, released under Monument Records, all reached the top 10 on the country charts.
