Eniola Badmus, a Nollywood actress and Special Assistant to Tajudeen Abbas, the Speaker of Nigeria’s House of Representatives, has commended the Nigerian economy under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

She pointed out that there has been a notable decline in imports alongside a rise in exports, which suggests a growing economy.

Badmus highlighted that Nigeria has achieved remarkable advancements in trade during Tinubu’s administration, marking a transition from a focus on consumption to one on production.

On her Instagram story, she wrote: “Our imports are reducing, and our exports are increasing. That is a sign that our economy is expanding.

“For the year-to-date 2024, our imports were N24.44 trillion, while our exports stood at N38.59 trillion. This gives us an unprecedented trade surplus of over N14 trillion in just eight months.

“It has never happened in Nigeria. Never. This is a refreshing shift from consumption to production.”

This positive assessment comes in the context of significant economic challenges and inflation facing the nation.

Recently, millions of citizens participated in protests labeled ‘End Hunger Protests’ to voice their concerns over the escalating hardships in the country.
