The Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) has unveiled plans to introduce an e-invoicing platform as part of its efforts to modernize Nigeria’s tax administration system.

This new digital platform, known as FIRS e-Invoice, aims to enhance invoice management and align with the provisions of the Tax Administration and Enforcement Act of 2007.

The announcement was made by the Executive Chairman of FIRS, Zacchaeus Adedeji, during the LCCI-FIRS Organized Private Sector Stakeholders Engagement held in Lagos on Wednesday.

Mr. Adedeji underscored the importance of e-invoicing in modernizing and improving the efficiency of Nigeria’s tax system, stating that “Our collective efforts will pave the way for a more prosperous and resilient Nigeria. As we advance, we encourage support for these initiatives through constructive feedback and collaboration.”

He stated that the implementation of e-invoicing is anticipated to promote a stronger and more transparent tax framework, which will be advantageous for both enterprises and the broader economy.

The Federal Inland Revenue Service has guaranteed a supportive tax administration for businesses in the nation.

Adedeji elaborated that the current restructuring within the agency has resulted in the establishment of a centralized service for taxpayers based on their revenue thresholds.
