The French Football League (LFP) has proposed to mediate in the ongoing dispute between Kylian Mbappe and Paris Saint-Germain regarding unpaid wages and bonuses, as announced by the club on Wednesday.
Mbappe asserts that PSG owes him 55 million euros ($60.6
million), a claim the club contests, stating that the 25-year-old had agreed to
forgo this amount in August 2023.
The France captain is seeking this sum, which includes his
signing bonus expected in February, his last three months of salary, and an
"ethical bonus" for that period.
Legal representatives for both sides convened early
Wednesday after Mbappe, who transferred to Real Madrid this summer, referred
his case to the LFP’s legal committee. Following this, the league suggested
mediation.
PSG expressed satisfaction with the two-hour hearing held by
the commission, stating, “The club emphasized that the player has made clear
commitments, both publicly and privately, that should be honored, especially
given the exceptional benefits he received during his seven years in Paris.
In light of the club's arguments, the commission has urged
mediation, which PSG has sought for several months.
The commission has now invited the player to consider this
mediation process.”
