The Chairman of the Isolo Local Council Development Area in Lagos State, Adebayo Olasoju, has provided uniforms, bags, sandals, and various educational supplies to nearly 7,000 students across all 14 primary schools within the council.

This initiative, referred to as the Mega Back-to-School Project, aims to support Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s efforts to improve the quality of life for residents of Lagos and alleviate the financial strain on parents due to the ongoing economic reforms initiated by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Olasoju stated, “This initiative by our administration is designed to complement our reliable Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, in his quest to enhance the living conditions for the citizens of Lagos State. This program also serves as our modest contribution to help parents manage their responsibilities towards their children amid the economic changes brought about by President Bola Tinubu.”

He emphasized that the program reflects his administration’s dedication to providing a strong educational foundation for future leaders.

“Today’s programme underscores our unwavering commitment to giving our future leaders solid educational foundation,” he said.

Olasoju also pointed out various completed and ongoing projects that demonstrate his administration’s focus on the educational needs of the community.

“Permit me to mention our strides in the education sector which include distribution of free GCE and JAMB forms to admission seekers in our council area, yearly bursary award to residents and indigenes of Isolo and among others,” he said.

Furthermore, he mentioned that in addition to the construction or rehabilitation of over 34 roads, other ongoing developmental projects in the council include the Alagbeji Primary Healthcare Centre, road networks in Ajao Estate, Baale Street, Ilasamaja, the rebranding of the council premises, and the construction of an Administrative Block.

The wife of the Lagos State Governor, Dr. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, represented by Mrs. Funmi Omotoso, the spouse of the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, stated that the initiative is designed to enhance the welfare of primary school students within the council.

Dr. Sanwo-Olu emphasized that this initiative aims to facilitate the reintegration of out-of-school children into the educational system.

“This initiative, which focuses on improving the welfare of our primary school pupils and encouraging those who are out of school to return to education, is not only important but also demonstrates the commitment of the Isolo LCDA leadership to a brighter future for our students. This large-scale back-to-school program aligns with Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu's vision, particularly his resolve to ensure that every child has the opportunity to learn and develop into a responsible and empowered adult,” she remarked.

She further noted that it would address “issues such as financial difficulties, lack of resources, and other socio-economic factors that hinder children's access to education.”

She concluded by stating that the initiative would have a positive impact throughout the council and extend its influence across Lagos State.
