OpenAI is set to launch "Strawberry," its reasoning-oriented artificial intelligence, within the next two weeks as part of its ChatGPT service, according to a report from the Information, which cites two individuals who have tested the model.
Under the leadership of Sam Altman, OpenAI has sparked
renewed interest and attracted significant investments in the AI sector, as
companies strive to leverage this profitable technology to enhance their
offerings.
Last week, the Microsoft-supported AI firm announced that it
has surpassed 1 million paying users for its business products, driven by the
strong uptake of its chatbot, which benefits from an advanced large language
model.
Strawberry distinguishes itself from other conversational AI
systems by its capacity to "think" prior to providing a response,
rather than delivering an immediate answer, as noted in the Information report.
In July, Reuters reported exclusively that OpenAI was
developing a new approach to its AI models under the project name Strawberry.
The Information report indicates that while Strawberry is
integrated into ChatGPT, it will function as a separate product. However, the
specifics of its availability remain uncertain.
The initial iteration of Strawberry will be limited to
processing and generating text, without the capability to handle images,
indicating that it is not yet multimodal, according to the report.
Microsoft and OpenAI have not yet responded to requests for
comment from Reuters.
