According to organizers, tens of thousands of music enthusiasts gathered at the Lollapalooza music festival in Berlin amid soaring summer temperatures on Saturday evening.

Approximately 50,000 attendees were present at the outset of the two-day event held at the Olympic Park. The standout performance of the first night featured summer sensation rapper Shirin David.

Despite the heat, fans danced in front of seven stages starting in the afternoon, with many bringing fans to stay cool as temperatures exceeded 30 degrees Celsius. Video screens provided advice on managing the heat.

The festival commenced without issues, as organizers had coordinated with authorities to enhance security measures following recent tragic stabbings in Solingen, western Germany.

Security protocols are typically heightened for large-scale events, and entry checks proceeded smoothly throughout the evening without significant delays.

The lineup features British artist Sam Smith, rapper Cro, and Nigerian Afrobeat star Burna Boy.

Lollapalooza has taken place at Berlin’s Olympic Park since 2018, having been established in the U.S. in 1991 by Perry Farrell, the lead singer of Jane’s Addiction. The festival made its European debut at Tempelhof Field in Berlin in 2015.
