Renowned Afrobeats artist, Temilade Openiyi, known professionally as Tems made a notable appearance at the Chicago White Sox game held at Guaranteed Rate Field, yesterday.

She had the honor of throwing the ceremonial first pitch while donning a White Sox jersey.

The game concluded with a 4-3 win for the White Sox, marking a significant victory over the Oakland Athletics and ending a nearly three-month losing streak.

Tems’ presence at the event coincides with her ongoing “Born In The Wild” tour, which commenced in London on June 12 following the release of her debut album.

Since then, she has performed in various locations worldwide, including the UK, Germany, France, the Netherlands, Norway, and multiple cities across the USA and Canada.

Tems gained significant recognition after her appearance on Wizkid's 2020 single "Essence," which reached number 8 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart after the remix featuring Justin Bieber was released. 

This track also led to her receiving a Grammy Award nomination. In the same year, she collaborated with Canadian rapper Drake on the song "Fountains."

In 2024, Tems made her mark in the music industry with the release of her debut studio album, Born in the Wild, which garnered widespread critical acclaim. The album achieved significant success, entering the top thirty charts in the Netherlands, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom, where it reached a peak position of number 24.

Following this success, she launched her ongoing Born in the Wild Tour, a global supporting tour. Over the course of her career, Tems has earned numerous awards, including a Grammy Award, a Billboard Women in Music Award, four NAACP Image Awards, four BET Awards, and three Soul Train Music Awards.
