Nollywood actor Timini Egbuson has voiced his frustration after receiving a direct message from a fan who requested financial assistance for breakfast, identifying herself as a member of the 'Chosen.'

The popular phrase, often used in jest and as part of internet culture, did not sit well with the actor.

In his reply, Timini cautioned that he would block any future communications from individuals claiming to be 'Chosen' members, emphasizing that he did not appreciate the trend.

His position received considerable support from his followers, contrasting with the criticism faced by singer Peruzzi, who had a similar encounter.

Peruzzi reacted strongly to a fan identifying as a 'Chosen' member who solicited money, which led to backlash from online users.

In contrast, Timini's response elicited a more favorable reaction, with many endorsing his approach.

Members of the online community were prompt in sharing their opinions on the matter.

Instagram user joybargram commented “This is subtle begging… Stylish bambiallah,” while onlv1luwa added, “We overdo everything! Even ‘Demure’ is still at the hospital recovering!”

Another user, melanie.xoxo, shared, “Nigerians don’t just know when to stop… I’ve never been a fan of this trend, it’s not funny.”

A number of other users expressed similar opinions, with iam_ivan1456 saying, “Am I the only one that doesn’t find this funny?” and gafgold adding, “Same here, I never even type am since it started trending maybe I’m a different human being or don’t find the jokes funny.”

Although some individuals expressed support for Timini’s decision to block users, others advised the actor to adopt a more moderate approach.

Valleyoakrealty noted, “It’s okay to block people but make una no dey do like say if una block some people una don block their lives. Abeg make Timini rest.”
