Air Peace has responded to online rumors regarding a supposed 100% increase in fares for domestic flights, categorically refuting the claim as untrue.

This clarification was shared in a statement on the airline's official X (formerly Twitter) account on Saturday, emphasizing that the information did not come from Air Peace.

The circulating message claimed that “effective 1st November 2024, Air Peace would implement a 100% fare increase across all domestic routes.”

In response, the airline asserted: “We unequivocally state that this information is false and did not originate from Air Peace. We have not issued any official communication regarding a fare increase as suggested.”

The statement also encouraged customers to depend solely on its verified platforms, including its website and social media, for accurate information on pricing and fares.

“Any announcements concerning our pricing will only be made through our verified channels,” the statement noted.

Air Peace reaffirmed its dedication to transparency and maintaining customer confidence, stressing that it has no plans to raise fares as rumored.

Air Peace, a prominent airline in Nigeria, has been the subject of speculation regarding potential domestic fare changes set to take effect on November 1, 2024. This follows the emergence of a widely circulated internal memo on social media.

The memo, purportedly from the airline, indicated significant fare increases, which were further corroborated by a senior employee, intensifying the rumors. According to the alleged memo, fare hikes were proposed across various booking categories, including a 60% rise for Business Class (J), 115.38% for Economy Class (S), 108.33% for Economy Class (B), and 99.87% for Economy Class (Y), among others.

Despite the widespread dissemination of these figures, there has been no official confirmation, leaving passengers in a state of uncertainty regarding future pricing. On October 26, a review of the airline’s website revealed that fares for flights between Abuja and Lagos on October 31 and November 1, 2024, were listed at N143,000. However, prior checks on October 25 and earlier indicated fluctuations in prices for flights scheduled after the rumored adjustment date of November 1.

For example, a one-way ticket from Lagos to Abuja booked on October 25 was priced at N285,000 for travel on December 17, 2024. Notably, by October 26, the same route was offered at a lower fare of N143,000 for the same travel date, suggesting possible dynamic pricing or adjustments based on market trends.

The airline has urged travelers to consult its official channels for any announcements regarding fare changes, highlighting its commitment to transparency and the dissemination of accurate information.
