According to the 2024 Trafficking in Persons Report issued by the US Department of State, the Nigerian government has not yet fully met the minimum standards for eradicating trafficking but is actively working towards achieving this goal.
Mr. Michael, a former Delta State governorship aspirant, urged governments at all levels to prioritize the empowerment of girls and women, as this would significantly reduce poverty levels.

The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) was established by WOTCLEF.
