Coco Gauff of the United States achieved her 50th WTA victory of the year with a commanding 6-0, 6-4 win over Magda Linette in the quarter-finals of the Wuhan Open.

Ranked fourth in the world, Gauff will take on top seed Aryna Sabalenka in the semi-finals on Saturday, following Sabalenka's 6-2, 6-2 triumph over Magdalena Frech.

At just 20 years old, Gauff recorded eight double-faults against Linette from Poland but showcased her strength by winning 14 out of 21 return points in the first set.

"I played well overall, maybe had two bad games," Gauff remarked, noting her current winning streak of nine matches.

Linette, aged 32, made a slight comeback in the second set, but one of her 22 unforced errors allowed Gauff to secure the only break of serve, sealing the match in her favor.

In another match, two-time defending champion Sabalenka maintained her perfect record in Wuhan, now at 15 consecutive wins.

The 26-year-old Belarusian delivered an impressive performance, hitting 42 winners in just 16 games against Frech, finishing the match in one hour and 23 minutes.

Additionally, China's Wang Xinyu triumphed over Russian Ekaterina Alexandrova with a score of 4-6, 7-5, 7-6 (8-6) in their quarter-final clash.

Wang will next face fellow Chinese player and Olympic gold medalist Zheng Qinwen, who defeated Wimbledon and French Open finalist Jasmine Paolini with a score of 6-2, 3-6, 6-3.
