Governor Mbah commended Miss Adetshina for embodying the unwavering determination and exceptional courage that are hallmarks of the people of Enugu State.
Mbah, who previously welcomed Miss Onwe Adetshina in October and appointed her as the state’s brand ambassador, expressed gratitude to Nigerians and the global community for their support throughout her journey to the pageant.
He stated, “Congratulations to Miss Universe Nigeria and Enugu State Brand Ambassador, Chidimma Onwe Adetshina, our pride from Amurri, Nkanu West LGA, on securing the 1st Runner-Up position at the Miss Universe 2024 Pageant in Mexico!
“Chidimma’s remarkable journey and exceptional performance have instilled immense pride in us, reaffirming the resilience, brilliance, and determination that define Ndi Enugu.
“Despite facing numerous challenges, she has illuminated the names of Enugu and Nigeria on the global stage, and we could not be prouder of her accomplishments.
“On behalf of the government and the people of Enugu State, I extend my heartfelt congratulations to Chidimma – continue to reach for even greater heights!“I would also like to take this moment to thank all Nigerians and the international community who supported her and voted significantly to help her achieve this milestone.”
It is worth noting that although Chidimma had been living in South Africa, she withdrew from the Miss South Africa competition due to feelings of unacceptance and the controversy surrounding her participation.
She then entered the Miss Universe Nigeria pageant, where she was crowned and subsequently represented Nigeria at the recently concluded 2024 Miss Universe Pageant in Mexico, finishing as the first runner-up to Miss Denmark, Victoria Kjaer Theilvig, who won the crown on Sunday.
