...Davido, Wizkid, Yemi Alade, 5 other Nigerian Artistes Make the List

The journey to Grammy recognition begins today with the announcement of nominations for the 67th annual music awards. The Recording Academy will unveil contenders across an impressive 94 categories, marking the highest number for any major award show.

Female artists such as Sabrina Carpenter and Chappell Roan, who have been behind some of this year's most popular hits, are set to receive significant industry acknowledgment as the nominees for the 67th Grammy Awards are revealed.

Carpenter and Roan are strong contenders for the best new artist category, having achieved significant milestones this year, attracting large festival audiences and climbing various Billboard charts.

Two of the music industry's leading figures, Taylor Swift and Beyoncé, are anticipated to receive nominations once again. Swift, who holds the record for the most album of the year wins, released her 11th studio album, "The Tortured Poets Department," in April and is concluding her extensive Eras Tour in December.

Beyoncé is poised to further her record as the most nominated artist in Grammy history. She may also receive a nomination for best country album after being overlooked at this year's Country Music Awards. Additionally, Post Malone, who debuted his first country album this year, could also be recognized in the country music categories.

Fans are also looking forward to potential nominations for Charli XCX in the album of the year and pop genre categories, as her album “Brat” has sparked some of the year's most significant trends.

Eight Nigerian artists have received nominations for the 2025 Grammy Awards. Davido, who was nominated last year, has earned his fourth nomination this time, with his collaboration on Chris Brown's "Sensational" featuring Lojay recognized in the Best African Music Performance category.

Other Nigerian artists nominated in the same category include Yemi Alade for "Tomorrow," Asake and Wizkid for "MMS," Burna Boy for "Higher," and Tems for "Love Me JeJe."

Additionally, Rema has secured his first nomination for this prestigious award, with his album "Heis" and Tems' "Born in the Wild" both nominated for Best Global Music Album.

In the rap category, Kendrick Lamar may receive a nomination for his summer hit diss track against Drake, “Not Like Us,” which was among the top songs of the season.

The Recording Academy's members completed first-round voting in mid-October to select the nominees. This year, the academy announced several important updates to its awards process, including changes to eligibility criteria and category names.

The event will introduce the newly renamed Harry Belafonte Best Song for Social Change Award, recognizing the legacy of the late calypso legend and civil rights advocate, Harry Belafonte.

The Grammy Awards are scheduled to be broadcast on February 2 on CBS. A list of the categories set to be revealed at 10:45 a.m. ET on Friday will be available.
