Teachers play a vital role that extends beyond mere instruction; they serve as guides, mentors, and the cornerstone of our society's future. This year, in recognition of their invaluable contributions, Dufil Prima Foods—the esteemed producers of Indomie—hosted its 14th Annual Teachers’ Seminar, themed “Reinventing the Classroom Through Digital Literacy.” 

The event was a remarkable occasion filled with appreciation, shared knowledge, and vibrant interactions that honored the dedication of Nigeria’s educators.

Taking place on October 26, 2024, this seminar marked a significant milestone. With over 500 teachers in attendance, the turnout was unprecedented, creating an atmosphere charged with enthusiasm. Educators from all regions of Nigeria came together, not only to gain knowledge but also to feel valued, inspired, and motivated.

Fostering Digital Literacy

The theme, “Reinventing the Classroom Through Digital Literacy,” ignited engaging discussions and innovative ideas. Four exceptional speakers took the stage, offering insights and strategies to help educators navigate the digital landscape of contemporary classrooms.

Obiora Ngwu, a Senior IT Business Analyst, and Miriam Wokocha, a digital technology consultant and motivational speaker, led a compelling joint session titled “Understanding the Role of Digital Literacy in Modern Education.” 

They explored how artificial intelligence and digital tools can enhance classroom environments, making them safer and more effective for learning. They urged teachers to adopt these technologies, emphasizing their potential to simplify teaching and enrich the educational experience for both educators and students.

Adding prestige to the event, Mrs. Onatoye Buriamoh Kemi, the esteemed Director of Education for Science and Technology at the Ministry of Education, attended to convey her admiration and respect for Nigeria’s teachers. 

She spoke with heartfelt appreciation, recognizing educators as the bedrock of society. “Regardless of titles, teachers are exceptional. They should continue to value themselves, broaden their knowledge, and guide future generations.”

Mr. Temitope Ashiwaju, the General Manager of Corporate Communications at Dufil Prima Foods, emphasized Indomie's ongoing dedication to supporting teachers in Nigeria year after year. He stated, “For 14 years, we have been on this journey together, and we are committed to honoring teachers and fostering their development.”

Impactful Testimonials and Memorable Experiences

A particularly poignant moment during the event was the presentation of a compelling video that showcased a social experiment highlighting the often-overlooked significance of teachers. In the video, a teacher was placed among professionals with titles—doctors, chefs, and lawyers—and attendees were asked to rank the importance of each profession. Many participants identified the titled professionals as the most important, relegating the teacher to the least important category. The atmosphere shifted dramatically when it was revealed that the teacher had educated all the titled professionals present, prompting a collective gasp of realization from the audience.

The emotional impact of the video resonated deeply with the attending teachers, many of whom were visibly moved. “I was teary at one point because this truly acknowledges the value of being a teacher,” remarked one educator. Another expressed, “It makes me feel invaluable, and today I proudly identify as an educator.” Indomie's message was unmistakable: the contributions of teachers are both immeasurable and invaluable.

A Lasting Commitment to Educators

The seminar transcended mere learning and inspiration; it was a celebration filled with joy, laughter, and a sense of community. Indomie treated attendees to delicious, hot noodles, filling the venue with inviting aromas that enhanced the experience.

Additionally, outstanding teachers (Nkiruka Afube, Okeke Alexander, Oluwapelumi Ademusayo, Bridget Bernard, and Adeola Damilare) who excelled in the nationwide online quiz were honored with special awards, further underscoring Indomie Noodles’ appreciation for their commitment and hard work.

As the event concluded, the educators left with fresh perspectives, new connections, and a revitalized sense of mission.
