The Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria has officially approved the commencement of the nursing program at KolaDaisi University, situated in Ibadan, Oyo State.

This significant development was announced by the Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Adeniyi Olatunbosun, during a formal press conference held at the Senate Chamber of the institution on Friday, which opportunely coincided with the convocation ceremony.

He noted that approximately 156 students, recognized for their academic excellence and character, will receive various degrees in their respective fields, with 20 students achieving First Class honors.

Olatunbosun stated, “The National Universities Commission had previously authorized the launch of courses within the Faculty of Basic Medical Science.”

He further mentioned that, due to the university's commendable performance, the council has approved an annual enrollment of 100 students for the Department of Nursing Science.

The Vice Chancellor expressed gratitude to both the Nigeria Police and Amotekun Corps for their ongoing support to the university.

“We appreciate the unwavering assistance from Amotekun, and we extend our heartfelt thanks to the Oyo State government for providing continuous security for the university.”

He also acknowledged the Nigerian Military, Second Mechanised Division, for their support.

Olatunbosun emphasized that despite the challenges faced by many higher education institutions in Nigeria, particularly private ones, the university has continued to thrive, maintaining adherence to global best practices in its operations.
