In addition to these international routes, NIA will facilitate 25 domestic connections to major cities, establishing Noida as a vital travel hub.
Noida Airport (DXN), located in Jewar, western Uttar Pradesh, will commence the second phase of its trial operations on November 15, marking an important milestone towards its official opening. This trial phase, which will last until December 15, will include daily flights operated by Akasa Air (QP), IndiGo (6E), and potentially Air India (AI), as confirmed by Arun Veer Singh, CEO of Noida International Airport Limited.
“The testing phase will span one month. We will submit the data to the DGCA website on December 20 and subsequently apply for aerodrome licensing,” Singh stated.
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) will assess this data to evaluate the airport’s readiness for full-scale operations, with the aim of securing the necessary licensing by March 20, 2025.
If everything proceeds as planned, Noida International Airport is expected to commence commercial operations on April 17, 2025. On its inaugural day, the airport anticipates managing 30 flights, which will include 25 domestic flights, three international flights, and two cargo flights.
The initial international routes will link Jewar to Zurich, Singapore, and Dubai, while domestic services will connect to major cities such as Lucknow, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Dehradun, with the final list of domestic routes still under consideration.
To establish NIA as a global hub, Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) have been signed with Singapore Airlines and Lufthansa. Singh noted that further airline partnerships are being developed to expand the airport’s international and domestic offerings.
Asia’s Largest Airport
The initial phase of development is designed to improve connectivity and stimulate economic growth in western Uttar Pradesh, while also reducing congestion at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport. With its state-of-the-art facilities and strategic partnerships, Noida International Airport is poised to make a substantial impact on India’s aviation landscape.
The first phase of NIA's construction necessitated the acquisition of 1,334 hectares of land from six villages, which included 11.8 hectares from local farmers. To honor the contributions of these farmers, a special flight from Noida to Lucknow will be arranged for them on the day the airport opens.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, along with other officials, will take part in a ceremonial flight to Lucknow to celebrate the official inauguration of the airport.
