As per the most recent FIFA rankings released on Thursday, Nigeria has experienced a significant decline due to unsatisfactory performances during the recent international window. In the November rankings, Nigeria's position dropped from 36th to 44th globally, marking an 8-position decrease.

The team's overall points decreased from 1503 to 1482.23. Within the African context, Nigeria now holds the 5th position, trailing behind Morocco, Senegal, Egypt, and Algeria.

This decline can be attributed to the Super Eagles' recent results, which included a 1-2 loss to the lower-ranked Rwanda at home in Uyo and a 1-1 draw against Benin Republic during the latest phase of the Africa Cup of Nations 2025 qualifiers.

On the global stage, Argentina retains the top position, followed by France in second and Spain in third. England and Brazil hold the fourth and fifth spots, respectively.

Niger made the most notable advancement in the rankings, rising nine places to 122nd globally with an increase of 31.23 points. The rankings reflect a busy international football schedule, encompassing World Cup 2026 qualifiers, AFCON 2025 matches, and Nations League fixtures.
