In preparation for Wednesday’s match in Germany, Dortmund's coach Nuri Sahin announced on Tuesday that Süle is the latest addition to an injury list that already includes fellow defender Waldemar Anton and attacking midfielder Julian Brandt. Additionally, forwards Maximilian Beier and Karim Adeyemi are both uncertain for the game.
While Sahin did not provide specific details regarding Süle's injury, he suggested it is a recurrence of the ankle issue that kept him out for a large part of October and November. This situation may require captain Emre Can, typically a midfielder, to shift to a defensive role alongside Nico Schlotterbeck in the match against Barcelona.
Karim Adeyemi has been absent for over two months since his hat trick against Celtic in the Champions League on October 1, when he sustained a muscle injury. Sahin mentioned that Adeyemi is progressing towards recovery, but they must carefully consider whether it is prudent to reintegrate him into the squad after such an extended absence.
Currently, Barcelona holds the third position, while last season's Champions League runner-up, Dortmund, is in fourth, with both teams accumulating 12 points in the 36-team standings.
