A Nigerian police officer, Juliet Chukwu, has secured the Bantamweight Championship title at the Extreme Fighting Championship (EFC119) event held in Johannesburg, South Africa. 

In a statement released on Saturday by the Force Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, it was noted that Chukwu’s triumph “showcases the increasing capabilities of Nigerian athletes on the international stage.” 

The statement further emphasized, “Under the leadership of Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM., the Nigeria Police Force has once again achieved a significant honor, making the nation proud as Corporal Juliet Chukwu captures the Bantamweight Championship title through an impressive exhibition of skill and determination at the esteemed Extreme Fighting Championship (EFC119) in Johannesburg, South Africa. 

“This outstanding accomplishment underscores the rising prominence of Nigerian athletes globally and reinforces the Force’s dedication to excellence in all sports disciplines. 





“The IGP has reiterated this commitment to fostering police excellence in sports, particularly in the dynamic field of Mixed Martial Arts (MMA). This dedication is evident through the establishment of the Nigeria Police MMA Association, the sponsorship of the inaugural IGP MMA Open National Championship and Stakeholders Sensitization Seminar, as well as the approved demonstration of MMA at the upcoming 14th Biennial Police Games (BIPOGA) – Oluyole 2024.
