Veteran artist Eldee The Don has shared insights into his contribution to the early career of Grammy-winning singer Wizkid.
During an appearance on the Adesope Live show, Eldee disclosed that he played a pivotal role in encouraging Wizkid to pursue afrobeats.
He noted that when Wizkid was signed to the EME record label, he was initially focused on Reggae and Dancehall. Eldee advised him to incorporate Nigerian musical elements into his work.
“Wizkid was inclined towards Reggae and Dancehall when Banky W brought him on board before his debut single, but I suggested he should find a balance and infuse his music with Nigerian flavors,” he explained.
Eldee added that Wizkid embraced this guidance and began producing Afropop tracks like ‘Don’t Dull,’ which significantly boosted his career.
