Award-winning actress Funke Akindele's latest film, "Everybody Loves Jenifa" (ELJ), has reached remarkable heights at the Nigerian box office.

Since its release on December 13, 2024, the film has garnered an impressive N206 million in its opening weekend.

In a heartfelt message on social media, Funke Akindele expressed her gratitude, stating: “Thank you Lord!!! Thank you Nigeria!!! Thank you!!!!!!!!!”.

On its debut Friday, ELJ earned N45.22 million, marking a 30% increase in first-day ticket sales compared to her previous film, “A Tribe Called Judah,” released last year.

With a total of 38,353 tickets sold during its opening weekend, the film has achieved the largest opening weekend in Nollywood for this year and set a record for the highest-grossing opening weekend in the history of the industry.

As noted in Akindele’s Instagram update, ELJ also established a new record for the highest-grossing single day in Nollywood, bringing in N87.8 million in just one day.

Additionally, the film has made its international debut in 30 countries, distributed by Nile Group Entertainment, significantly broadening its global presence.

Remarkably, ELJ achieved these impressive figures without screenings at Genesis Cinemas and with limited time at Silverbird Cinemas.
