Simorgh successfully completed its maiden flight over the Persian Gulf on Wednesday. Following its May 30, 2023 test flight, the aircraft was formally unveiled at the Kish Island airshow, attended by Brigadier General Aziz Nasirzadeh, Iran’s Defense Minister, as part of the 12th International Aviation and Aerospace Exhibition of Iran.

During the event, Nasirzadeh stated that Simorgh was designed and produced by the Defense Ministry in collaboration with local knowledge-based firms, emphasizing that the aircraft adheres to international standards and regulations.

He further remarked that the participation of various companies and aviation experts at the airshow promotes collaboration across different sectors of the Iranian aviation industry.

Iran has reached self-sufficiency in aviation.

Furthermore, Brigadier General Hamid Vahedi, Commander of the Islamic Republic of Iran Air Force (IRIAF), announced at the event that Iran has achieved self-reliance in aviation technology.

He stressed that sanctions have not diminished the nation's commitment to progress or its technological capabilities.

The general noted that the aircraft displayed at the Kish airshow are domestically manufactured, a product of collaboration between the Defense Ministry's industrial entities and the IRIAF. The Kish Aviation and Aerospace Exhibition is planned for December 10-13, 2024.
