The LNG shipments under this agreement are set to begin in January 2025, reflecting the dedication of both companies to addressing the increasing global energy needs. This deal also emphasizes the ongoing expansion of China's LNG market, which is anticipated to become the largest in the world.
In response to the announcement, His Excellency Mr. Saad Sherida Al-Kaabi, Minister of State for Energy Affairs and President and CEO of QatarEnergy, stated: “We are delighted to establish this new long-term LNG SPA with our esteemed partner, Shell. This agreement not only fulfills the needs of Shell’s customers in China but also strengthens our role in satisfying the demands of LNG consumers globally.”
Emphasizing the robust partnership between QatarEnergy and Shell, H.E. Minister Al-Kaabi remarked: “This SPA represents the 11th LNG supply contract we have established together, showcasing the strength of our long-standing collaboration. It highlights our ongoing capability to meet the varied needs of our customers and partners around the world.
