Shallipopi officially left the record label in November 2024.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, he alleged that the label violated his trust and mismanaged his financial affairs.
He wrote: “I am officially ending my agreement with Dapper Music and Dvpper Digital. This was not a choice I made lightly, but a step I had to take after my trust was broken, my finances mishandled, and my rights were disregarded as an artist.
“This is bigger than just me. It is about every artiste and creator who pours their soul into their work, but only to face betrayal and exploitation from people that should be looking out for them. It is about standing up for fairness, integrity, and respect that we all deserve.
“Instead of prioritizing my growth, they prioritised their own profits, putting my career and dreams at risk.”
The Nigerian rapper and songwriter Crown Uzama, professionally known as Shallipopi, rose to prominence in 2023 with the launch of his single "Elon Musk." He subsequently released the extended play titled Planet Pluto. His debut studio album, Presido La Pluto, also released in 2023, achieved significant commercial success, debuting at the top position on the TurnTable Top 50 and also leading the Apple Music Top 100 albums chart.
In 2024, Shallipopi released his second studio album, Shakespopi, which continued his streak of success, becoming his second album to reach the top of the charts. The lead single from this album, "ASAP," secured the number one spot on the TurnTable Top 100.
