Award-winning actress Funke Akindele has made waves with her film “Everybody Loves Jenifa,” which has now become the highest-grossing Nollywood movie ever, pulling in an impressive N1.466 billion and still going strong at the Nigerian box office.

This milestone really cements Akindele’s status in the Nigerian film scene, as her movies have been dominating the box office since 2020.

She’s no stranger to breaking records, either. Her 2020 hit “Omo Ghetto: The Saga” brought in N636,129,120, and her 2021 release “Battle on Buka Street” raked in N668,423,056.

Plus, her 2023 film “A Tribe Called Judah” was the first Nollywood flick to hit the N1 billion mark, earning N1,404,187,806.

"Everybody Loves Jenifa" is a spin-off from the beloved Jenifa series that has been captivating fans since 2008.

In this movie, Jenifa faces new hurdles as a rival emerges, putting her charity efforts and fame at risk.

With a fantastic cast that includes Patience Ozukwor, Jide Kosoko, and Falz, it’s easy to see why the film has struck a chord with viewers.

Filmone, the distributor, shared on Instagram: “RECORD BREAKER. Everybody Loves Jenifa has officially reached an incredible 1.466 Billion Naira and still counting at the box office, making it the highest-grossing film ever!”

“A massive THANK YOU to our incredible audiences in Nigeria and Ghana for making this dream a reality! Your support is everything. On to even greater heights! Still showing in cinemas near you—experience the magic on the big screen”.
