FilmOne, a movie distribution company, shared the news on their Instagram account, @filmoneng, on Monday.
Funke Akindele took the top spot with her film “Everybody Loves Jenifa,” while Wunmi Toriola followed closely in second place with “Queen Lateefah.”
Toyin Abraham secured the third position with her movie “Alakada Bad and Boujee.”
Tomike Adeoye came in fourth for “Ajosepo,” and Eniola Ajao rounded out the top five with “Beast of Two Worlds: Ajakaju.”
Kehinde Bankole was recognized as the sixth highest-grossing lead actress for “Funmilayo Ransome Kuti,” and Adunni Ade took seventh place with “Lakatabu.”
Uche Nwaefuna claimed the eighth spot with her films “Thinline,” “Silent Intruder,” and “The Betrayed.”
Regina Daniel was the ninth highest-grossing lead actress, while Gbugbemi Ejeye took the tenth position with “Farmer’s Bride.”
It’s worth noting that Akindele’s latest film “Everybody Loves Jenifa” made waves by becoming the fastest Nollywood movie to reach one billion naira in just 19 days, solidifying Funke Akindele’s status as Nigeria’s top-grossing producer and director. FilmOne Entertainment hailed this achievement as a significant win for Nollywood.
This comes on the heels of Funke’s previous success with “A Tribe Called Judah,” which also crossed the N1 billion mark last year, making her the first filmmaker in Nollywood to have two films hit this milestone within a single year.
