According to a source who spoke to Channels Television, the audit started right after the incident, which took place at 10:57 pm when Flight VM1605, coming from Murtala Muhammed Airport (MMA) in Lagos, landed in Kano. The tyre burst caused a bit of chaos among the passengers, but thankfully, everyone was evacuated safely without any serious injuries.
Reports suggest that the aircraft might have lost its nose landing gear tyre, which triggered the incident.
One passenger, Abdullahi Ibrahim, shared that the atmosphere on the plane was pretty tense. He recalled, “As soon as we landed, there was a loud sound, and the plane shook violently. Some passengers started praying, but the crew assured us everything was under control. We are just grateful to be safe.”
Attempts to get a comment from Max Air officials were unsuccessful at the time of this report. However, aviation experts have reassured the public that while these situations can be alarming, they aren’t all that rare in the industry. In the meantime, regular flight operations have resumed at the Kano airport, with efforts underway to remove the affected aircraft from the runway.
