Tems, Grammy-winning singer, has called off her concert in Kigali, Rwanda, because of the country's backing of the M23 armed group involved in the conflict in eastern DR Congo.

The show was set for March 22 at the BK Arena, but it’s now off the table.

Tems said she’s sorry for promoting the concert without knowing about the situation.

She shared her sincere regret, emphasizing that she never meant to overlook serious issues happening in the world.

“So I recently promoted my show in Rwanda without realising that there is an ongoing conflict between Rwanda and Congo. I never intend to be insensitive to real-world issues, and I sincerely apologize if this came across that way. I simply had no idea this was going on. My heart goes out to those affected. Conflict is no joke and I truly hope and pray for peace in this time”, she wrote on X.

The cancellation occurs in the context of global criticism regarding Rwanda's support for the M23 group.
