During an event held on Monday in the Victoria Island area of Lagos State, the recipients, Felista Enwerem and Olushola Seun, were awarded N3.8 million and N3.03 million, respectively, to assist with their breast cancer treatment.
This initiative follows the bank's free breast cancer screening and awareness campaign conducted in November 2024, which benefited over 300 women.
At the event, Iyabo Soji-Okusanya, the Executive Director of Corporate and Investment Banking, emphasized the bank's dedication to making a positive difference in the communities it serves.
“We have tasked ourselves with the responsibility to continue to impact the communities and the markets where we operate. It is not just about making profits or having clients; it is about being known as a leader in the place of impact,” Soji-Okusanya said.
The Zonal Head of the Commercial Banking Division at Access Bank, Vashti Samdi, further elaborated that the financial assistance was a direct outcome of the bank's outreach efforts conducted in November.
He stated, “Two individuals reached out to us after being diagnosed, and we decided to support them as part of our ongoing commitment to empowering women in our society.”
Chief Customer Experience Officer Virginie Nowak emphasized Access Women Network's pan-African operations, extending beyond Nigeria, with a strategic focus on five key pillars: education, empowerment, and health.
Health Fusion CEO Tokunbo Otitoju lauded Access Bank's initiatives, characterizing breast cancer as a challenging journey requiring comprehensive support. He stated that Access Bank's financial contribution provides hope and underscores the solidarity offered to affected women.
