Peter Obi and afrobeat sensation Davido, also known as David Adeleke, have both celebrated Tems for her recent achievement at the 67th Academy Grammy Awards on Monday morning.

Tems, whose full name is Temilade Openiyi, took home the award for ‘Best African Music Performance’ with her track ‘Love Me Jeje,’ beating out fellow Nigerian artists like Davido, Yemi Alade, Asake, Wizkid, Lojay, and Burna Boy.

In his message of congratulations, Obi expressed his joy over the remarkable accomplishments of Nigerian youth in various sectors, particularly in entertainment.

“I like therefore to extend my hearty congratulations to our Nigerian Afrobeats star, Tems @temsbaby, who just secured her second Grammy Award with her win in the Best African Music Performance category,”  the Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate for the 2023 election shared on his X account.

Obi also acknowledged the other Nigerian artists nominated for Grammy Awards, emphasizing that the country’s creatives are helping to elevate Nigeria’s presence on the global stage.

“I also rejoice with Nigeria’s entertainment industry and other Nigerian artists who were nominated for different awards in their respective categories,” Obi said.

“Undoubtedly, Nigeria remains home to the endless flow of talents who through their creative arts, continue to put the nation on the global map. I firmly remain committed to building a nation that fosters growth among the youths and helps them discover and harness their individual talents for national productivity.”

Davido chimed in with his own message, saying, “Big congrats to my one and only! @chrisbrown! And to the Queen @temsbaby. We’re so proud of you!”

This latest win marks Tems' second Grammy award; she previously won in 2023 for ‘Best Melodic Rap Performance’ for her contribution to F.'s 2022 track ‘Wait for U.’
