"(This deal) can be a blueprint for other governments around the world, and it allows us to really commit in a way that I think could drive impact even faster," stated Trevor Thompson, the global head of growth at the San Francisco-based firm.
The partnership will enable Qatar's government to utilize technologies such as predictive analytics, automation, and advanced data analysis to optimize its operations, according to a statement from the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology of Qatar.
Scale AI is set to identify over 50 potential applications of artificial intelligence for the Qatari government over the next five years, the statement further noted.
Thompson did not disclose the financial details of the agreement.
As a prosperous gas producer and a longstanding ally of the United States, Qatar is striving to establish itself as a leader in AI, facing increasing competition from neighboring Saudi Arabia and the UAE.
Founded in 2016, Scale AI specializes in providing large volumes of accurately labeled data for training tools like OpenAI's ChatGPT.
The company also assists its clients, which include major players like Microsoft, Morgan Stanley, and AI companies such as OpenAI and Cohere, in developing and refining their data sets.
