Nigerian hip-hop artist Phenom has stirred the rap community by declaring M.I Abaga untouchable in the Nigerian rap game. The bold statement came after a viral Twitter debate pitting M.I against Vector in a battle for rap supremacy.

Phenom, best known for his hit “Man Dem”, showed love to Vector but insisted that no Nigerian rapper should be compared to M.I.

“Shey una dey whine? I love and respect Vector, but no Nigerian rapper should be compared to M.I,” he tweeted.

A History of Rap Rivalry

M.I and Vector’s long-standing beef peaked in 2019 when they exchanged fiery diss tracks. M.I fired the first shot with “The Viper”, prompting Vector’s “Judas The Rat” response. While fans crowned M.I as the lyrical victor, his decision to seek a private truce with Vector was seen by some as conceding the battle.

The two later reconciled and even collaborated on “Crown of Clay”, produced by Pheelz, proving that rap battles can end in unity.

Fans Divided: Who Really Reigns?

While Phenom’s take sparked agreement from some quarters, others argued that Vector, Olamide, Falz, and Phyno deserve equal recognition.

@Darlington_Cza: “Phyno bodies MI hit for hit, bar for bar. GOAT.”

@Datboiybee: “Hits, Olamide, Ice Prince, MI, Phyno. In this order.”

@eblebe_iro: “Vec is underrated in this rap game. All respect, but Vec na beast wey fit stand MI.”

@bjcodes2: “Vector can be compared to him in every way. Rap skills? Yeah. Except if you’re talking about something else.”

The Unending GOAT Debate

The discussion highlights Nigeria’s ever-evolving rap scene, where lyricism, hits, and influence all play a role in crowning the Greatest of All Time (GOAT).

While Phenom’s stance leans toward M.I’s technical prowess and legacy, others champion Vector’s consistency, Olamide’s street dominance, or Falz’s witty social commentary.

One thing’s clear: Nigerian hip-hop thrives on competition, and the debate is far from over.
