Nollywood actress and model Beverly Osu is speaking her truth more than a decade after a controversy that rocked her public image during her stint on Big Brother Africa: The Chase in 2013. In a heartfelt conversation with media personality Chude Jideonwo, Beverly revisited the sex scandal involving her and fellow housemate, South African dance teacher Angelo Collins.

While many viewers at the time believed the pair were sexually involved on the show, Beverly firmly stood her ground once again, insisting:

“I didn’t do it [have sex on the reality show]. I was 20… I brought out so many things from Big Brother other than that [my relationship with Angelo].”

She shared how the scandal significantly affected her career in its early stages, with the relationship overshadowing her personal growth and achievements in the Big Brother house.

“I was so irritated because that was the only thing viewers picked—because I was in love. Literally, it was love. All my problems in life come from love,” she added, calling love both her gift and her weakness.

Osu expressed that her openness with Angelo was a result of deep affection and comfort, not scandalous behavior. She defended the relationship, saying:

“I was madly in love with Angelo. That was why I was free around him. I was dating na, make we tie gele? I was in love with him.”

The actress also took a swipe at media sensationalism and societal judgment, previously stating that Nigerians played a role in the demise of her relationship with Angelo, citing conflicting tabloid narratives that linked her to different men after the show.

Despite the public scrutiny, Beverly has continued to build a successful career in Nollywood, modeling, and advocacy, now reclaiming her story with bold vulnerability.
