In a significant move set to bring further relief to Nigerian consumers, Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals has announced another reduction of ₦15 in the price of its high-quality Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), commonly known as petrol. This marks the latest in a series of price adjustments aimed at making petroleum products more affordable across the nation.
Effective immediately, the new retail prices for Dangote petrol will be structured regionally. Consumers in Lagos will now purchase the product at ₦875 per litre. For the South West region, the price is set at ₦885 per litre, while the North West and North Central regions will see petrol sold at ₦895 per litre. Residents in the South East, South South, and North East parts of the country will find the product available at ₦905 per litre. These consistent prices will be maintained across all of Dangote Refinery's partners.
The refinery has confirmed that its network of partners includes prominent filling station brands such as MRS, Ardova (AP), Heyden, Optima Energy, Techno Oil, and Hyde Energy. These partners will uniformly implement the new pricing structure, ensuring broad access to the reduced rates.
Dangote Refinery has extended an invitation to other marketers to join its expanding network of partners. This call aims to foster greater collaboration within the industry, aligning with President Bola Tinubu’s "Nigeria First" policy, which strongly advocates for the prioritization of locally-produced goods and services. By increasing the distribution channels for domestically refined petrol, the initiative seeks to bolster national energy security and reduce reliance on imports.
Since the commencement of its operations, Dangote Petroleum Refinery has consistently demonstrated a commitment to implementing cost-reduction strategies, with the explicit goal of delivering tangible savings directly to Nigerian consumers. This latest price cut builds on a trend of affordability improvements.
In February 2025, the company made two significant price reductions on petrol, cumulatively bringing down the cost by ₦125 per litre. This was followed by another notable reduction of approximately ₦45 per litre in April. Beyond petrol, the refinery has also substantially lowered the prices of other critical products, including diesel and Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG). These broader price adjustments have significantly improved affordability across various sectors, from transportation and industrial operations to domestic energy consumption, contributing to overall economic stability.
The consistent efforts by Dangote Refinery underscore its role in shaping Nigeria's energy landscape, driving down costs, and championing local content in the petroleum sector.
