Ethiopian Airlines, recognized as the largest African airline, has announced that Nigerian passengers departing from Lagos will enjoy expanded travel options starting July 1. The airline is adding an extra daily flight, bringing its total departures from Lagos to 14 weekly flights.

This increase in frequency, according to the airline, is designed to provide immediate connections to a wider array of African and Asian destinations. Passengers can now benefit from more seamless transfers, which will significantly reduce their total flight time. The new schedule will feature four evening flights departing at 10:00 PM and an additional three flights departing at 5:40 AM.

Mrs. Firiehiwot Mekonnen, the Area Manager of Ethiopian Airlines in Nigeria, commented on the development, stating, “We are offering these extra benefits to reward our loyal passengers as we offer more flights and options out of Lagos. These extra flights help us improve service delivery and reduce costs for travellers. Most of our passengers will now arrive at their destinations faster.”

Mekonnen further highlighted the additional perks accompanying the increased flight frequency. “The 14 weekly flights from Lagos do not just offer more flights, it comes with extra benefits. More baggage allowance. You can also get double double miles if you fly with us.”

It is important to note that the extra baggage allowance is specifically extended to passengers traveling to Mumbai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Madras, and Dubai. This strategic expansion by Ethiopian Airlines aims to enhance convenience and value for its Nigerian customer base, reinforcing its position as a leading carrier on the continent.
